Lakeland is currently under Phase III Water Restrictions, in effect through October 1, 2026, due to low water levels across the region. If you're a homeowner or business owner here, here's what's changed and how to keep your landscaping healthy anyway.

Watering is now limited to one day a week, based on your street address (0-1: Monday, 2-3: Tuesday, 4-5: Wednesday, 6-7: Thursday, 8-9: Friday), and only during set hours — before 4 a.m. or after 8 p.m. Hand watering is still allowed any day, before 8 a.m. or after 6 p.m.

The good news: newly installed sod or plants get a 60-day grace period with more frequent watering to help them establish.

To keep your yard looking its best under these restrictions, we recommend mulching your beds to lock in moisture, choosing Florida-friendly or native plants, and checking your irrigation system for leaks or an outdated timer.
